Tongue Tie
Ankyloglossia, also known as tongue tie, is an anomaly that decreases the
mobility of the tongue and can impair breastfeeding. It is caused by
a short, thick band of tissue, called the lingual
frenulum, which anchors the tongue to the floor of the mouth. Fixing ankyloglossia during the infant period is quite
simple and can be done in our office in a matter of minutes.
A small incision is made to release the tethered tongue
thus allowing free movement.
