ANNOUNCEMENTS

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Richard Schwartz. He died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.

Dr. Schwartz was a physician for more than 43 years and served the Northern Virginia and Vienna area for more than 25 years. We here at Advanced Pediatrics owe an enormous debt of gratitude to this brilliant and generous man. He not only built a home for us here, but has been instrumental in the professional growth of so many of us.  He is that little voice inside our heads urging us to do more, to do better. He was truly one of a kind.

He loved caring for patients, and patients and families adored him. He touched the lives of too many to measure. His presence will be sorely missed amongst our office family, our community and the field of pediatrics as a whole.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the medical charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to the office or to notesfordrschwartz@gmail.com.  Funeral services are not yet finalized; details will follow.

Dr. Schwartz was named to the Washingtonian and NorthernVirginia Magazine's list of Top Doctors once again in 2016. His philosophy on pediatric care and the importance of "Thinking Big while Staying Small" was recently highlighted in the Independent Pediatrician Magazine.  Even if not here in person, he will remain that little voice inside our heads prompting us to do more; do better.

Our Mission & Passion

In a world of big box stores and retail clinics, it is our mission to maintain the feel of a small practice while continuing to deliver big ideas as a leader in healthcare.

How do we do it?  Creating a great practice starts and ends with good people.

How many times have you walked into a medical office to be frowned at by the receptionist?   Or left an office not knowing if those labs just drawn would be reported to you?   Did you ever wonder if the nurse who just helped you even knows your child's name?  Not so at Advanced Pediatrics, where every staff member is part of a team, ensuring you leave the office confident that we know your child and listened to your concerns. Even the nurses on the phone, day and night, will become familiar voices.

We hire people who are smart, determined, and committed to helping you and your family. It starts with the doctor caring for your child, but may end with the nurse calling to see that your child is getting better as expected. Every person has to be at their best for the best care for your child; it's just one of our big ideas about what your family deserves.

Services and Policies

Have basic questions about the practice?  Learn about making appointments, accepted insurance plans, how to get advice after the office is closed, what our vaccine and financial policies are, and all the extra things we do to elevate the care we provide.  We have big ideas about how to deliver the best medicine to your family and we are excited to share them with you.

Looking to find out what to expect at your child's age and/or at your next visit? Look no further.
