Newborn Care Q & A

What is newborn care?

Newborn care refers to the pediatric services a new baby needs to thrive. Meeting with your child’s pediatrician ensures your little one not only receives the screenings they need at each stage of development but also provides parents with the resources and guidance you need as you adjust to the newest addition to your family.

Expansive research shows that babies who receive professional newborn care move through infancy with fewer complications and a reduced risk of serious health outcomes. Taking advantage of outstanding pediatric care services is one of the best things you can do for your new child.

Why is newborn care so important?

During each newborn care visit, your child’s pediatrician gathers some basic information about their development. Next, the information is compared to statistics from many other babies of the same sex and age. This allows the pediatrician to identify any developmental delays.

Routine health screenings are also part of the process. If there are any areas of concern, your child’s pediatrician discusses your options for treatment, additional screening, or continued monitoring.

Perhaps most importantly, your visits to Advanced Pediatrics are an opportunity for you to ask questions and express concerns as they arise. Having a trusted pediatric specialist to turn to makes it far easier to feel confident you’re doing everything possible to enhance your little one’s development.

How often do I need to bring my little one in for newborn care?

Once you bring your new baby home, you’ll begin coming in for routine newborn care visits. These visits occur more frequently during the first year of life, then taper down until you eventually only come in once a year.
